Chapter 1

          “Ugh…,” I moaned slightly as I sat up and rubbed my head.  I had no idea what just happened, but whatever it was, it sure was a pain in the neck.  Literally.  My vision was slightly blurred and I blinked several times before looking down at my hands and feet.  Yup, everything looked normal, but it wasn’t until I stood to my feet that I realized I shouldn’t have said that.  I brushed out the leaves and twigs which had got tangled up in my mid back length brown hair before looking around.  I began walking on the colored pebble ground, and that was when everything changed.  I slowly tilted my head upwards and fell back onto the ground in shock.  Either this was the world’s tallest tree…or…no, it couldn’t be.  I quickly scrambled over to the nearest piece of grass, and as I looked up at this seven foot high green stalk which was one of the many I was surrounded by, I realized it was true, I had shrunk!

“Eek!” I screamed a high pitch scream as I began to pinch my arm.

“No! No! This can’t be true! I must be dreaming!”

            I kept shaking my head and wondering back and forth for what seemed like hours before I fell to the ground and cried.  Moments passed, as I eventually got up from the ground once again, fixed the skirt of my dress, and looked around desperately for a way out of whatever was happening.  My hair and outfit certainly hadn’t changed at all.  Still brown hair, and my taupe colored sundress.  I didn’t understand this at all; what, how, and why had all of this happened to me?

            Finally I sighed and walked deeper into this strange forest…everything looked different, but somehow, I knew this different.  The pink, lavender, gold, mint green, and sky blue pebbles; the baby pink, scarlet, crimson, and yellow sky; the trees with their leaves lined in crystals…this wasn’t an ordinary forest.  This was the forest my mother told me about when I was little!
